About the role
This role serves as Oyster's lead in-house payroll expert for the Netherlands, one of the company's key markets. You will own the full Dutch payroll cycle end-to-end, configure and optimize payroll software such as AFAS, Nmbrs, or Loket.nl, manage government filings and accesses, and resolve complex client payroll escalations while ensuring strict compliance with local labor and tax laws.
What you'll do
- Run the complete Dutch payroll cycle end-to-end with full compliance, quality checks, and timeliness.
- Oversee payroll master data validation, adjustments, garnishments, and salary changes.
- Handle all statutory filings including Loonaangifte and Jaaropgave, and manage government accesses with Belastingdienst and UWV.
- Configure, maintain, and test legislative updates in payroll systems like AFAS, Nmbrs by Visma, or Loket.nl.
- Act as subject matter expert on Dutch wage tax, social insurance, labor law, 30% ruling, and CAO interpretations.
- Manage client escalations, maintain knowledge bases, and mentor junior payroll specialists.
What you bring
- 5+ years of experience running native end-to-end Dutch payroll at high volume.
- Advanced hands-on experience with AFAS, Nmbrs by Visma, or Loket.nl.
- PDL, VPS certification, or NIRPA Register Salarisadministrateur (RSa) registration.
- Dutch proficiency at C1/C2 level alongside fluent English for async communication.
- Deep working knowledge of Dutch wage tax, labor law, and social insurance legislation.
