About the role
In this role, you will work primarily on the backend of PMM, designing and building scalable services, APIs, and database integrations using Go. You will collaborate with modern observability platforms and signals like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, and ClickHouse to evolve PMM into an automated and agentic observability solution. The team is also exploring how AI tools, agents, and LLM-based workflows can enhance development and product capabilities.
What you'll do
- Design and develop reliable, scalable, and performant backend services and APIs in Go.
- Build monitoring, observability, and management features for MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and related infrastructure.
- Implement OpenTelemetry integrations handling signals including metrics, logs, and traces.
- Work with distributed systems, containerization, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures.
- Take ownership of complex technical features from design through delivery and testing.
- Contribute to the open-source PMM project and collaborate with the developer community.
What you bring
- Significant production backend engineering experience with Go.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, concurrency, and distributed systems.
- Experience with database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis/Valkey.
- Familiarity with observability, metrics, logging, tracing systems, and OpenTelemetry concepts.
- Hands-on experience with Linux, containers, Git, and automated testing.
- Fluent written and spoken English with strong remote collaboration skills.
