About the role
In this entry-level web and UI engineering role, you will develop intuitive and accessible user interfaces for Canonical's enterprise products and open-source initiatives. You will work with technologies such as JavaScript, CSS, React, and Flutter, contributing to Canonical's Vanilla Framework presentation layer and collaborating on REST API integrations. The role involves designing high-quality code, participating in architecture reviews, creating technical documentation, and engaging directly with the open-source community.
What you'll do
- Design and implement well-tested and documented software using Web technologies or Flutter
- Debug and fix frontend issues encountered by users across enterprise products
- Participate in engineering reviews for code quality and software architecture
- Collaborate with the open-source community and team members on technical specifications
- Contribute to technical documentation and seek improvements to engineering practices
- Deploy, operate, and advocate for services and frontend products developed by the team
What you bring
- Exceptional academic track record with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science/STEM or equivalent alternative background
- Demonstrated experience designing and writing high-quality web applications using TypeScript, React, or Flutter
- Strong understanding of web accessibility, responsiveness, and frontend performance
- Familiarity with Linux environments, preferably Debian or Ubuntu
- Professional written and spoken English communication skills
- Ability to travel internationally up to twice a year for team events (up to two weeks each)
