About the role
As a Solution Architecture Manager at Canonical, you will lead and mentor a distributed team of cloud solutions architects and field engineers across presales and professional services. You will maintain hands-on technical involvement with open source technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, and Ceph while helping enterprise clients design private and public cloud workloads. In addition to people management and career guidance, you will collaborate with cross-functional leadership, contribute to technical presales, and travel up to 25% of the time for customer meetings and company sprints.
What you'll do
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of field engineers across presales and professional services engagements.
- Act as a trusted advisor to enterprise customers solving complex infrastructure and cloud architecture challenges.
- Participate actively in technical presales conversations to assist the department in achieving quarterly objectives.
- Implement disciplined engineering processes and monitor key team health and performance indicators.
- Represent your team and product offerings to external partners, customers, and internal engineering stakeholders.
What you bring
- Practical knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph).
- Strong technical background in Linux environments and enterprise networking.
- Demonstrated experience in technical presales and professional services delivery.
- Proven track record of managing, coaching, and mentoring engineering talent.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time for internal events, conferences, and client visits.
- Exceptional communication skills in English and an outstanding academic track record.
