About the role
In this role, you will own backend features end-to-end, from scoping to building APIs, queues, and background services handling traffic spikes and millions of daily emails. You will architect resilient distributed systems, scale databases, manage AWS infrastructure as code, and participate in an on-call rotation to operate what you build.
What you'll do
- Own features end-to-end, scoping projects and building APIs, dashboard experiences, and backing services
- Build reliable distributed systems, background workers, and queues handling concurrency and traffic spikes
- Scale APIs and relational data models, optimizing query performance and maintaining data integrity
- Operate infrastructure safely with monitoring, deployments, and participation in the on-call rotation
- Collaborate with support and customers to translate recurring issues into product improvements
What you bring
- 8+ years of software engineering experience building and operating backend services in production
- Proven experience with queues, asynchronous processing, retries, and distributed systems architecture
- Hands-on background managing cloud infrastructure via tools like Terraform or AWS CDK
- Experience designing APIs and relational databases while diagnosing slow queries and data migrations
- Ability to communicate clearly in English and maintain consistent working overlap with Americas hours
