About the role
As a Senior Staff Data Scientist at Netlify, you will lead how data shapes product and growth strategy across the entire PLG journey—from activation and engagement to conversion, retention, and monetization. Operating with high autonomy, you will partner closely with Product and Engineering leadership to turn behavioral insights into product bets, lead experimentation from design through decision-making, and build scalable systems like semantic models and AI-powered agents.
What you'll do
- Own analytical understanding of Netlify’s PLG performance across activation, engagement, conversion, monetization, and retention.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to translate behavioral insights into product bets and roadmaps.
- Lead end-to-end experimentation, including study design, methodology, success metrics, guardrails, causal inference, and recommendations.
- Build scalable analytical systems such as semantic models, metric layers, proactive monitoring frameworks, and AI-powered agents.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate investigations, automate routine analytical workflows, and test hypotheses.
- Identify measurement and event instrumentation gaps, collaborating with Data and Product Engineering to resolve them.
What you bring
- 8+ years of experience in product analytics, growth analytics, or data science focused on PLG or consumer products.
- Deep expertise in study design, experimentation methodology, causal inference, and statistical reasoning.
- Demonstrated experience building reusable analytical systems like semantic models, metrics layers, or monitoring frameworks.
- Proactive, AI-native approach to exploratory data analysis and automation.
- Strong track record of influencing senior leadership and product strategy through sound analytical judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored for a remote, async working model.
