About the role
As a Senior Engineer on the Cloud and Container Services team, you will focus on scaling and managing Fastly's Kubernetes platform for control plane services across multi-cloud and hybrid environments. You will expand platform features, onboard new services, diagnose complex cross-stack performance issues, and automate maintenance and deployment pipelines.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and operate infrastructure to enable reliable and rapid deployment across multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments.
- Diagnose and resolve performance and reliability issues across applications, operating systems, networks, and cloud services.
- Write tools to automate maintenance and deployment of servers, services, and applications using Go, Python, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Operate production-grade Kubernetes clusters across multiple regions and clouds using CNCF tooling like Flux, Helm, and Prometheus.
- Participate in on-call rotation and support production services during core business hours and occasional off-hours.
What you bring
- 5+ years of experience running high-availability distributed systems and supporting infrastructure across geographies.
- Deep understanding of Linux internals, networking, tcpdump, and system tracing tools.
- Hands-on experience building and operating production Kubernetes clusters and CNCF tooling.
- Proficiency in Go or Python for developing custom tooling, Kubernetes controllers, or Prometheus exporters.
- Demonstrated experience with public cloud providers (AWS, GCP), Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and GitOps workflows.
