About the role
As the Senior Director, User Experience, you will lead design across Later's product portfolio (Later Influence, Later Social, and Mavely). Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you will manage a team of 5 to 6 UX designers while collaborating closely with roughly 10 product managers and an engineering organization of 100+ developers. In this role, you will embed as a hands-on contributor on critical zero-to-one product initiatives, establish AI-native workflows and agentic UX patterns, and architect scalable design systems that unite Later's product suite.
What you'll do
- Embed as a hands-on contributor on strategic 0-to-1 bets, building functional browser prototypes and setting the UX standard across flagship launches.
- Architect and codify UI/UX patterns for agentic workflows, human-in-the-loop interactions, AI trust mechanisms, and prompt context windows.
- Lead, mentor, and hire a distributed team of 5–6 UX designers, fostering an AI-native, builder-first culture.
- Partner with the CPO and CTO to align design investment with overall company strategy and build AI-assisted design-to-code pipelines.
- Establish a lightweight, repeatable user research approach that translates customer insights into clear product priorities.
What you bring
- Extensive experience leading and scaling high-performing UX design teams within modern SaaS or product environments.
- Proven track record of hands-on prototyping and systems thinking across multi-product portfolios.
- Deep familiarity with integrating generative AI, computational design tools, and agentic UX workflows into product design.
- Demonstrated ability to partner closely with engineering leadership on front-end architecture, design tokens, and design-to-code pipelines.
- Willingness to travel 1–2 times per quarter.
