About the role
As a software engineer on Canonical's Data, Workflows, AI/ML & Analytics team, you will collaborate on end-to-end data analytics and MLOps solutions composed of open-source tools like Kubeflow, MLflow, Airflow, and Trino. You will design, build, and maintain solutions deployed on public clouds, private infrastructure, and Kubernetes, while diving deep into the Linux stack and engaging with upstream open-source communities.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and maintain open-source solutions deployed on public and private clouds, workstations, and Kubernetes.
- Develop and expand understanding of the entire Linux stack, from kernel, networking, and storage to application layers.
- Master distributed systems concepts such as observability, identity, and tracing.
- Collaborate proactively with a distributed team of engineers, designers, and product managers.
- Debug issues, share solutions, and interact directly with upstream open-source and Ubuntu communities.
What you bring
- Professional or academic software delivery experience using Python.
- Experience with Linux environments (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
- Exceptional academic track record with an undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling alternative path.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills with confidence sharing feedback openly.
- Ability to travel internationally up to twice a year for team events lasting up to two weeks.
