About the role
As Major Gifts Officer within Mozilla Foundation's Development team, you will report to and work alongside the VP of Development, program staff, and executive leadership to manage a portfolio of major donors. You will be responsible for moving prospective donors from initial interest to signed funding commitments, translating Mozilla's digital rights and tech policy initiatives into high-impact philanthropic opportunities, and maintaining transparent pipeline data in Salesforce.
What you'll do
- Personally solicit and close five-, six-, and seven-figure gifts from donors giving at the $50,000 to $1M+ level.
- Systematically manage, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major donor relationships.
- Document all donor interactions and relationship histories rigorously within Salesforce.
- Partner with prospect research to identify, qualify, and build pipelines for new major gift opportunities.
- Design and execute stewardship activities and donor events to foster long-term donor retention.
- Translate technical initiatives and advocacy programs into compelling proposals and impact stories.
What you bring
- Demonstrated track record in major gift fundraising, ideally within technology, advocacy, or public interest sectors.
- Proven success closing five-, six-, and seven-figure gifts directly with high-net-worth individuals.
- Expertise in donor cultivation strategy, moves management, and CRM/donor database workflows.
- Strong proposal writing, communication, and relationship-building capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and drive difficult philanthropic conversations forward.
