About the role
As an Ubuntu Systems Senior Engineer on the Linux Platform Integration team, you will work across the entire Linux stack—ranging from the kernel to graphics, networking, and virtualization. You will collaborate directly with specialist engineers from major silicon providers to integrate cutting-edge features and enhance performance on next-generation hardware. This role involves serving as a technical lead on partner engagements, guiding testing and architectural strategies, and optimizing Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server for enterprise-grade environments.
What you'll do
- Design and implement Ubuntu integration for modern IoT, desktop, and server-class hardware and software stacks.
- Collaborate with silicon partners to deliver an optimized Ubuntu experience on their hardware platforms.
- Formulate technical plans, testing strategies, and quality metrics across partner systems.
- Act as a technical lead on customer engagements spanning complete system architectures from cloud to edge.
- Assist partners in integrating SDKs, building custom OS images, and tuning applications with Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or an equivalent field.
- Demonstrated experience with Linux packaging systems such as Debian, RPM, or Yocto.
- Strong programming proficiency in Python, C, and C++.
- Hands-on experience collaborating within open-source communities and handling open-source licensing.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and productively within a globally distributed team.
