About the role
As the Lead Product Designer for YouTrack, you will lead a small design team of two designers, establish a fresh design process from scratch, and tackle complex design challenges as an individual contributor. You will rethink how project management tools operate in an AI-native world, developing novel interaction patterns, prototyping concepts, and ensuring complex workflows, agile boards, and administration interfaces remain clear, responsive, and unified.
What you'll do
- Shape how project management and issue tracking evolve in an AI-native world and turn concepts into practical features.
- Design interfaces for human-AI collaboration within YouTrack, including conversational tools, inline assistants, and automation.
- Develop clear interaction patterns for AI confidence, action transparency, and user control.
- Prototype and test concepts rapidly to identify solutions that effectively reduce user friction.
- Lead and mentor a team of two designers while maintaining high craft standards and design consistency across the product.
- Collaborate with engineering and product management to define roadmap priorities through design.
What you bring
- Proven track record leading the design of complex, data-rich productivity tools or systems with significant information architecture challenges.
- Deep understanding of modern AI systems, including agentic workflows and multi-step execution beyond single-turn prompts.
- Experience mentoring, critiquing, and leading other product designers.
- Ability to craft unified product experiences that satisfy both small startup teams and large enterprise environments.
- A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end work, from intricate micro-interactions to high-level information architecture.
