About the role
As a Frontend Web Application Developer at KoboToolbox, you will work on an extensive codebase powering surveys and data analysis used by over 32,000 organizations globally. You will write robust, well-tested code, modernize legacy patterns (such as Backbone and CoffeeScript), and collaborate closely with team members and end users to improve the platform's user experience.
What you'll do
- Search and navigate an extensive codebase to understand existing behaviors, conventions, and opportunities for modernization.
- Write robust, concise, and reusable client-side code accompanied by tests and documentation.
- Review peer code and incorporate review feedback to maintain quality and align with team standards.
- Investigate bug reports from the support team and develop scoped fixes or resolution plans.
- Scope, prioritize, and estimate technical work into manageable milestones.
- Participate in regular video-conference check-ins and collaborate on architectural decisions.
What you bring
- Professional experience developing, deploying, and maintaining API-driven single-page web applications.
- Proficiency with TypeScript, React, state management, and modern HTTP data exchange.
- Willingness and ability to work with legacy technologies like Backbone and CoffeeScript.
- Availability of at least 30 to 40 hours per week with working overlap in the US Eastern time zone.
- Fluency with Git and proficiency in written and spoken English.
