About the role
In this founding role, you will take full ownership of the AI and machine learning engineering stack and help define the team's research agenda. You will design and implement ML and LLM systems for data ingestion, knowledge extraction, and reasoning over complex organizational codebases and documentation, collaborating closely with JetBrains Research while shaping the product's core semantic layer.
What you'll do
- Design and build the ML/LLM solutions for data ingestion, knowledge extraction, retrieval, and reasoning.
- Create datasets, evaluation metrics, and pipelines driving measurable improvements across the system.
- Architect agentic workflows and prompt engineering pipelines, optimizing models and context retrieval.
- Establish MLOps practices, including orchestration, observability, and experiment tracking.
- Collaborate with the engineering team and JetBrains Research on the research agenda and system design.
- Define hiring criteria, build out the ML engineering team, and shape the team culture.
What you bring
- Proven track record as an ML/AI Lead.
- At least 5 years of experience in ML/AI systems, with at least 2 years focused on LLMs and generative AI.
- Deep understanding of LLM ecosystem, agentic frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex), and RAG architectures.
- Strong Python skills with experience deploying and scaling LLM-powered applications.
- Proficiency in English with excellent technical communication skills.
