About the role
As an Engineering Manager for the Data Platform team, you will lead engineers focused on Big Data and MySQL databases. The role combines team mentorship, hiring, and organizational leadership with hands-on technical guidance and code contributions to deliver scalable, fault-tolerant open-source data products.
What you'll do
- Lead a distributed engineering team building scalable data solutions for Kubernetes and cloud platforms
- Hire, coach, mentor, provide regular feedback, and develop engineering talent
- Directly contribute code and champion modern agile software development practices
- Manage expectations and collaborate effectively with senior leadership and external stakeholders
- Ensure the team maintains rigorous standards for code quality, fault tolerance, and engineering excellence
What you bring
- Software engineering background with proficiency in Python and Golang
- Hands-on experience running distributed systems in production at scale, particularly Big Data or MySQL
- Demonstrated ability to build high-quality open-source software
