About the role
As an Embedded Linux Field Engineer for Devices/IoT, you will serve as a technical expert and trusted advisor to enterprise customers across industries like Automotive, Medical Devices, Robotics, and Consumer Electronics. You will bridge presales requirements gathering and hands-on technical execution, diving deep into low-level Linux boot, packaging, firmware, and embedded operating system configurations. The position requires strong problem-solving abilities and readiness to travel up to 30% of the time for customer meetings, conferences, and internal events.
What you'll do
- Engage customers during presales to gather technical requirements and present Canonical's embedded solutions.
- Design and elaborate technical solutions proposed to prospective clients.
- Participate in the delivery of select Embedded Linux and Ubuntu Core implementation projects.
- Convey market and customer requirements to internal stakeholders to guide product evolution.
- Travel up to 30% of the time for customer onsite visits, company events, and industry conferences.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Extensive Linux experience, preferably with Debian or Ubuntu environments.
- Demonstrated experience with Linux OS packaging (deb, rpm) and embedded toolchains (Yocto, Buildroot).
- Fluency in at least one programming language: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
- Professional written and spoken English proficiency along with excellent communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% internationally.
