About the role
This role works across the full Linux stack from kernel through GUI to optimize Ubuntu for the latest silicon and hardware platforms. You will partner with engineers from major silicon and hardware companies to deliver performance enhancements and tailored integrations for IoT, PC, and server-class devices. Responsibilities range from packaging and app integration with Ubuntu Core to leading technical customer engagements from cloud to edge.
What you'll do
- Design and implement Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.
- Collaborate with silicon and hardware partners to deliver an optimized Ubuntu experience on their platforms.
- Contribute to technical plans, testing strategies, and quality metrics across partner platforms.
- Serve as technical lead on complex customer engagements covering full system architectures from cloud to edge.
- Help customers integrate SDKs, build device OS images, and optimize applications with Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with Linux packaging systems such as Debian, RPM, or Yocto.
- Demonstrated experience working with open source communities and software licenses.
- Proficiency in C and C++ programming.
- Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation.
