About the role
As an Alliances Field Engineer, you will support major tech partners (such as Intel, Nvidia, Google, and Dell) in adopting Canonical's technologies and products. You will architect cloud infrastructure solutions spanning Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, and AI/MLOps on-premises and across public clouds, develop joint reference architectures, and run technical onboarding workshops. The role blends deep technical expertise across the open-source stack with customer-facing engagement and requires up to 30% international travel.
What you'll do
- Architect cloud infrastructure solutions using Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark on-premises or across public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Architect and integrate open source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra, and NGINX
- Design and publish joint reference architectures and execute technical validations with alliance partners
- Prepare and deliver onboarding workshops and technical sessions for partner teams
- Assist business leaders with defining technical aspects of joint go-to-market partner programs
What you bring
- Extensive experience with Linux (Ubuntu preferred), Kubernetes, Ceph, and software automation
- Experience designing and implementing architectures on public or private cloud environments
- Working understanding of Python and Bash, along with strong troubleshooting skills
- Fluent written and spoken English with strong communication and presentation abilities
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 30% of the time
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent technical experience
