About the role
As the Tech Lead for AI on Hume, you will architect and build the foundational AI layer of Neo4j's connected data analytics platform, with an initial focus on Hume Maestro. You will bridge high-level research and production engineering, setting code and architecture standards while working closely with Product Managers and the Chief Scientist. As the AI function scales, you will have the opportunity to transition into leading and mentoring a dedicated AI engineering team.
What you'll do
- Design the foundations and technical roadmap of the AI layer within Hume, focusing primarily on Hume Maestro.
- Actively contribute to the codebase, setting benchmarks for technical excellence, performance, and scalability.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and the Chief Scientist to align technical execution with product vision.
- Partner with front-end and platform engineers to integrate AI capabilities seamlessly into the user experience.
- Drive AI/ML engineering best practices, including model evaluation, deployment pipelines, and maintainable architectures.
- Help build, mentor, and lead a dedicated AI engineering team as the department expands.
What you bring
- Proven track record as a Senior or Lead Engineer with deep expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
- Strong hands-on experience designing and deploying AI architectures, with an emphasis on LLMs, graph-based AI, or complex data processing.
- Demonstrated ability to translate high-level research into robust, production-ready engineering systems.
- Collaborative mindset experienced in balancing technical debt, innovation, and delivery speed alongside product and research partners.
- Experience in B2B SaaS or high-growth deep-tech environments is highly preferred.
